New Mixed Arabicum Hybrid

Hi Adenium Lovers,

As you know, Bonsai is very well known for long time and also until now. Today I would like to share the idea of making Adenium-Bonsai Seedling. I would like to call this kind of seedling with “Artificial” Adenium Bonsai Seedling. Bonsai mostly use in term of organization technique and maintaining the plant form. From my starting point here, I would like to focus on the growth of seedling naturally, not yet on

the technique, and also emphasize this growing by following with bonsai’s concept. Another reason is that I knew that Thai Socotranum is the best hybrid to perform nice rootbase. Arabicum is very good to give both multi and Muscular Branch but pretty hard to perform flat-spread rootbase.

From my point of view, I am pretty believed that most of nice Adenium comes from nice young Adenium. Next step, you can organize her with Bonsai’s technique then you would get the nice Adenium Bonsai Seedling. That’s why I love to focus on hybrid development since baby seedling’s growing. Original hybrid itself cannot perform new characters except natural mutation from seed sowing almost same as her own mother plant. I think nice adenium must have nice root, caudex and branch in term of form. How can we know what nice form is? Bonsai’s knowledge is the answer for this.

I have spent many years to study the Adenium hybrid characters. Now I know the great form should come from mixed hybrid crossing between Thai Socotranum and Arabicum. Naturally, Thai Socotranum is very good with ready Bonsai characters but she needs some additional characters to make the perfect of Bonsai Seedling. These are Multi-Branch, Internodes (Branch Joints), and faster growth rate.

Growth in my sight, is not fertilizer doping but this is from Adenium blood herself. Doping plant is like fat or big guy but not strong mostly die on rainy season with rotten caudex or root. Most of these additional characters are from Arabicum.

Hi Adenium Lovers;

I would like to share the idea on why I need new mixed hybrid come from crossing between Arabicum and Thai Socotranum. There are 3 things for great standard of Adenium form for Bonsai Seedling's playing.

1. Root Base- Naturally Spread
2. Caudex- Short and brown
3. Branches - Symatrics or Bushy

For these things above are mostly from hybrid nature.

For these 3 things above are mostly from hybrid nature. Arabicum herself is hardly to give spread root base and brown caudex for young seedling. Thai Socotranum can give all of items above but hardly to give bushy branch form. As we know, Thai Socotranum herself grows slower than other Adenium hybrids but we can accelerate this grow rate from mixing or crossing her with Arabicum. This way is better than fertilizer doping, I like the way with natural growing, and also stronger, healthier and resisted to fungi disease especially during rainy season.

Branch characters, not only focus on Symmetric or Bushy but internodes or joints. I personally love branch internodes, not only beautiful with classical style but internodes can also tell whether branches will be longer or not. You can create branch characters easily, e.g. if you like bushy form, you should cross Thai Socotranum with Arabicum: Ra Chi Nee Pan Dok (RCN), if you need Muscular Form your should cross her with Arabicum: Petch Na Wang (PNW).

As I said, firstly you’ve gotta know and learn each hybrid very well so you can build adenium form as your imagination like creating new Obesum varieties. This is very fun….Do you think so?
